Equal Treatment With or Without a Penis

Warning: this is a RANT

Look at this picture. I got it in my email the other day. At first glance its funny. Some might say hilarious. I laughed at it! After all, who Hasn't thought about shoving a large knife into some freaky dudes chest? Right? Right??? But wait there's more!

Just for one minute, picture this as a woman's torso, not a man's. Now imagine the uproar that the people against violence toward women would cause. This would make front pages of news papers and online news sites as an example of how men are promoting violence. People would say it's rude, demeaning, psychotic. But Because its being done to a "man" its OK?
Why is it ok for us (females) to make this joke and expect people to be amused by it?

Or what about Firefighters? They have an uber important job. Its called Saving Lives. In order to be a firefighter, the applicants must pass a test. Speed, Strength, smarts. I don't know what's all on it, Im not a fireman. But we (females) lobbied and protested the Unfairness of the testing. WTF? Now I am not saying that females cannot be firemen ... women... but the strength test should either remain as it was or be lowered for ALL applicants. Think about it. You are two hundred pounds and on the second floor of a burning building. You are unconscious and cannot help the fireman help you down a ladder. You must be heaved up and carried in the Fireman's Hold. Who do you want rescuing you? The man who trained and passed the strength test at normal levels or the female who trained and passed the test at Reduced weight levels?

Ooooh! and how about the rash of jokes making its rounds through email... where the dude offends his wife and the punch line is "He's OK, but will require therapy and a long healing time". Yet another joke promoting violence towards men! Again. Picture the joke with the roles reversed. You know you would be Mad, offended and repulsed at the idea of a man giving his wife a smack down.

How bout the stereotype with pink shirts? A guy wears a pinkie and he is automatically Gay. But girls can wear blue* and no one notices except to say "Oh that matches your eyes". Bullshit! If we can wear blue they can wear pink!

How bout this one. Mr.Mom. Why is it so weird to hear of dads staying at home with the kids while mommy works? People think oh the mother mustn't love her child enough, or "He's too lazy to get a job". How about this one... Mommy has a good steady well paying job and dad had a crap job he hated. Why do people assume dads can't do as good, or better of a job then mom? And people who say "Oh My husband is baby-sitting tonight" WTF he is their DAD. Its not called baby-sitting, it's called parenting. I think guys are getting a bum deal people.

I think that if women want to fight be treated equally, we need to stop and think about how fair we are to men. We need to stop looking and laughing at things like the picture above, OR turn the other cheek when men reciprocate with Like Humor.

* Baby girls should NOT be allowed to wear all blue, unless the mother can understand that when we say "Oh, what a cute little boy" we are recognizing the blue outfit as the "Boys wear blue" Symbol and won't get all freaky on our ass! Dress her in blue all you want, but add a head band or those little to DIE for Mary Jane shoes!

Discuss.

I agree wholeheartedly! Some jobs are more suited to men for just the reasons you state. I have nothing at all against feminism, but they seem to have traded off their sense of humour, and are only too quick to search diligently for things to be offended by. Same goes for all this PC crap.

I agree... great post. During the summer, my son and I were watching Discovery Channel, and pink was created for an English king or duke or something like that to accent light blue, his favorite color, and red was too strong (and also at the time widely used by the Scottish, which apparently was bad). I think that if we want to be treated fairly as women, we must treat men fairly too. It goes both ways. If you don't want to be discriminated against, then don't discriminate yourself.

I agree - if I am in a buring building, I want someone who can haul my ass out. I also think that Men can do whatever woman can (less give birth).

and I am tired of all the double standards.

Amen to that!

Also, if you drive through a place like McDonald's and get a kids's meal, they ask if you want a girl toy or a boy toy. We always say "it doesn't matter", and we always get a girl toy. It's as if they know we have a girl child, because if we had a boy, we wouldn't be taking the chance he could end up with a doll.

GRRR!
